Tom Kinan, Esq.

Trial Partner

With his unique experience representing both plaintiffs and insurance companies, along with major commercial property owners in real estate and construction disputes, Tom now proudly serves as the designated trial counsel at EMET. His litigation background spans high-stakes cases involving catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, premises and product liability, mass torts, and complex property damage claims. What sets Tom apart is his unwavering mission: to deliver real justice—not just the version the defense tries to sell.

Before representing the rights of seriously injured and wrongful death Plaintiffs, Tom worked at the largest insurance defense law firm in the county and defended the very same insurance companies he now holds accountable.  Mentored by the managing partner of the General Liability group, Tom gained insider knowledge of how these corporations operate, evaluate, and defend claims.  Today, that insight is his greatest weapon—he anticipates their moves before they make them, understands their strategy, and knows exactly what it takes to win at trial.

Prior to joining EMET, Tom was a key litigator at one of Los Angeles’ most prominent personal injury firms.  While working there, Tom secured numerous six- and seven-figure settlements for clients injured in vehicle crashes, premises liability cases, and rideshare incidents involving pedestrians, cyclists, and passengers.  Known as the “young gun” for his relentless courtroom presence and tireless preparation, Tom built a reputation for delivering life-changing results, driven by his “all-in” approach to every case and every client.  It’s this level of impact—helping real people rebuild their lives that Tom now brings to every client at EMET.

Recently, Tom was selected to the 2024 SuperLawyers Southern California ‘Rising Stars’ list, an honor reserved for those lawyers who exhibit excellence in practice. Only 2.5% of attorneys in Southern California receive this distinction.

Tom is admitted to practice in all California state and federal courts and is fluent in both English and Hebrew.
